Launching the Second Chapter

If The First Chapter reminded us of just how many stories have been lived at John XXIII College, there is another chapter waiting to be written.

Following the huge success of The First Chapter book and lunch, John XXIII College has commissioned College historian Dr Ian Walker to write The Second Chapter, turning our atention to the 80's and 90's and continuing the story of our community and the people who have shaped it.

And this time, we need your help.

FROM THE FIRST CHAPTER TO THE SECOND

The First Chapter captured an important part of the College’s history. But the story didn’t stop there.

For generations of students, the years that followed brought new friendships, new traditions, new challenges and plenty of memorable moments.

In an era where VHS tapes carefully recorded from television, Walkmans disappearing into pockets, mix-tapes, dial-up internet, chunky desktop computers and phones that were very good at making calls and not much else there were College parties, sporting victories, late-night conversations, friendships that lasted well beyond graduation.

Now, those memories deserve their own chapter.

YOUR STORY IS PART OF THE STORY

We are looking for stories and memories from former residents, staff and members of the wider College community.

Perhaps you remember a particular College event. Maybe you have a story about your first night at College, a legendary character, a friendship that changed your life or a tradition that everyone seemed to know.

Perhaps you have photographs from a College ball, sporting team, formal dinner or OTB.

Or maybe you've still got a copy of Pontifex tucked away somewhere.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE

If you have stories, photographs, Pontifex copies or other material that could help with The Second Chapter, please get in touch with the College.

We'd love to hear from you. Please conatct us at: community@johnxxiii.anu.edu.au
