On a perfect autumn afternoon, over 400 guests gathered in the serene Lavender Courtyard of the Park Hyatt Canberra for John XXIII College’s much-loved Afternoon of Elegance. Bathed in sunshine and surrounded by picture perfect gardens, the event brought together friends, families, and supporters for a celebration of connection, community, and cause.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Park Hyatt, the event was a feast for all the senses—stunning weather, exquisite canapés, and refreshing drinks created the perfect setting for conversation and celebration. The elegant atmosphere was matched by the joy of seeing so many new and familiar faces, reconnecting and creating new memories.
Guests were treated to a thoughtful and inspiring keynote by Rachel Friend, mother of current student Penny, who delivered an insightful and heartfelt address that championed the value of college life and the transformative impact it has on students.
A highlight of the day was the charity raffle in support of MacKillop House, which raised an incredible $8,920. These funds will directly support our mission to expand access and opportunity for students through scholarships and other initiatives. We extend our sincere thanks to all who contributed so generously.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the students, staff, and supporters who made this afternoon such a success. We’re already looking forward to our Parents and Mens Events next semester, and to welcoming even more members of the John XXIII College community.
