John XXIII College has taken its story on the road, proudly participating in the FACTS Careers Day in Bathurst, the Northwest Careers Day in Tamworth and the Riverina Careers Expo in Wagga Wagga and Leeton. The visits form part of the College’s growing commitment to regional outreach, helping students from country NSW learn more about life at John XXIII College, studying in Canberra, and the five universities our community supports.

The College was joined at both events by current residents who grew up in the local area, giving school leavers the opportunity to hear first-hand what it’s like to transition from regional schools to residential college life in the nation’s capital.

The College’s presence at these events also introduced students to the wider academic landscape available to them in Canberra. In addition to the Australian National University, John XXIII College accepts students from the University of Canberra, UNSW Canberra, the Australian Catholic University, and Charles Sturt University.

Head of College at John XXIII College, Jas Lincoln, said the College was committed to ensuring regional students felt welcomed and supported. “We know that regional students bring unique perspectives, resilience, and community spirit. Our goal is to show them that John XXIII can be their home away from home - a place where their story after school can really begin.”

With strong interest from both students and school careers advisors across the two events, the College plans to continue its regional outreach efforts, building stronger links with country communities and encouraging more rural students to consider Canberra as their university destination.
