We gathered recently for Valete to celebrate our leavers, share memories, and look ahead to the next chapters of their journeys. A heartfelt thank you to guest speaker and alumnus Lachlan Arthur, whose inspiring words reminded us all of the lifelong bonds forged through the Johns experience, and a heartfelt farewell speech from 2025 College President, Hugo Bennett, who reflected on the year’s achievements and the enduring spirit of our community. He also welcomed the incoming student leaders, including 2026 President Penny Friend, encouraging them as they take the reins of the College community.

2025 Valete Award Recipients
Outstanding First Year: Ollie Moore & Ellie Austin
Outstanding Second Year: Laura Penning
Outstanding Third Year: Ted Laukka
Supporter of the Year: Matthew Callaghan
Spirit of Johns: Penny Friend

These students embody the values that define life at Johns - gratitude, respect, integrity, empathy, courage, and inclusivity. Their impact will be felt for years to come.

To our 2025 leavers: thank you for the spirit and energy you’ve brought to College life. As you join our alumni community, we look forward to seeing where your Johns story leads next.
