Term 1 sport at John XXIII College set the tone for a competitive and spirited year ahead, with strong performances across multiple codes and a clear sense of momentum building within our interhall program.

Oztag
The second Oztag gala day saw John’s open their Interhall account for the year with a series of strong performances. Played in hot conditions at Willows Oval, the team pushed through to the Grand Final, where they faced a familiar rival in Bruce Hall. Despite a determined effort, John’s went down 7–4 in a hard-fought contest, continuing a growing rivalry that has become a highlight of the interhall calendar.

Mixed Netball
After a tough opening-round loss to Wright Hall, the Mixed Netball team responded in emphatic fashion. Regrouping quickly, they remained undefeated for the rest of the competition and returned to the Grand Final to face the same opponent. In a composed and confident performance, John’s secured the Championship title , claiming back-to-back premierships and reinforcing their dominance in the competition.

Ultimate Disc
With a three-peat on the line, Ultimate Disc once again captured the attention and support of the College community. Mirroring the Netball campaign, the team fell short in their first match against Bruce Hall but used the setback to build momentum across the season. Their determination culminated in a high-quality Grand Final, where they defeated Bruce Hall 11–8 to secure a third consecutive title in front of a strong John’s crowd.

Volleyball
It was a challenging but competitive season for Volleyball, with both teams showing resilience and growth throughout the term. Several matches were decided by narrow margins, reflecting the effort and development within the squads. While results didn’t always fall our way, the commitment and teamwork displayed provide a strong foundation heading into the next stage of the competition.

Term 2 is set for action—Netball, Badminton, Road Relay and Touch Football take centre stage as John’s looks to build on a dominant start to the year. Full sports reports will be featured at the end of the Semester 1 in The Pelican magazine. Sports photos can be found on the Johns Connect website: https://connect.johnxxiiicollege.com.au/galleries
