Students had the opportunity to connect directly with one of the world’s leading professional services firms this week, when EY visited the College for a breakfast career session.

Held in the Senior Common Room, the event gave residents a chance to learn more about EY’s graduate and vacationer programs in an informal and welcoming setting—over coffee, pastries, and plenty of conversation.

Ana Gencic - Senior Consultant, along with recent graduates, spoke about the diverse career pathways available across assurance, consulting, strategy and tax. They shared practical advice on the application process, the skills EY looks for in candidates, and what life is like as a graduate in one of the world’s “Big Four” firms.

Students also had the chance to ask questions ranging from how to stand out in applications, myths about consulting firms, to international mobility and how technology is shaping the future of consulting.

Director of Development and Community, William Ward, said the event reflected the College’s commitment to giving students access to professional development opportunities right at their doorstep.

“It’s about connecting our residents with industry leaders in a setting where they feel comfortable asking questions and imagining what their own career path might look like,” he said.

Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting how valuable it was to speak directly with EY representatives rather than in the more formal atmosphere of a careers fair.

The College looks forward to welcoming more industry partners in the future, helping residents explore pathways that extend well beyond their time at ANU.
