Term 1 marked an outstanding beginning for the Arts at John XXIII College, driven by the energy, creativity, and leadership of Arts Representative Jed Katekar. From the outset, there was a clear sense of momentum, with strong participation across all events and, just as importantly, incredible support from the college community. Crowds turned out in force, creating an atmosphere that lifted every performance.

Across the Interhall Arts program, the College delivered consistent and competitive results. Both Trivia and Debating saw strong showings, with the College finishing 5th in each, reflecting not only talent but depth across teams. These results highlight a growing culture of engagement in the intellectual and performance-based arts, with students stepping up and representing the College with confidence.

A standout moment of the term came through 40 Hours of Film, one of the most dynamic events on the Interhall calendar, where teams collaborate intensively to write, shoot, and edit a short film within just 40 hours . Our team’s production, All We Have, directed by Will Barnett, placed 8th, showcasing creative ambition, originality, and impressive technical execution under pressure, and leaving a strong impression on audiences and supporters alike.

Beyond the results, what truly defined Term 1 Arts was the sense of community. Whether it was packed trivia nights, engaged audiences at debates, or students rallying behind the film team, the support across the College was unwavering. This collective enthusiasm has set a strong foundation for the year ahead. Full reports will be in the Semester 1 Pelican magazine.
