John XXIII College has once again made its mark on the sporting landscape, with an impressive group of current residents and ex-ressies recognised at this year’s ANU Sport Blues Awards. The honours reflect not only individual excellence but also the strength, depth, and spirit of the College’s sporting culture.

Among the Half Blue Award recipients were Will Hodge, acknowledged for his achievements in Rugby Union, and a strong contingent of AFL 9s representatives — Digby Blacker, Harry Grebe, Marcus Middendorp, and Nicholas Robertson — who excelled at Uni Games. The College’s success continued on the football pitch, with Ben Ward and Ben Hadfield earning recognition for their performances at Football Uni Games.

The pride extended beyond current residents, with several ex-ressies also honoured for their outstanding contributions to university sport. In AFL 9s, Brigitte Batagol, Jas Betts, Nick Kelly, Olivia Cunningham, Ruby Reddrop, and Tom Keating were all awarded Half Blues for their efforts at Uni Games. The Football Uni Games team featured two more familiar faces, Max Rawlinson and Zac Chadwick, who were similarly celebrated for their achievements.

These awards highlight the dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit that define sport at John XXIII College. Whether on the field, the court, or the pitch, our athletes continue to embody the values of commitment, camaraderie, and community. Their success at the Blues Awards is a reflection of the culture that continues to inspire new generations of residents.

Congratulations to all award recipients, the College is immensely proud of your accomplishments and the example you set for others.
