Celebrating Semester 1 Academic Achievements

Semester 1 has given our community plenty to celebrate.

Last week, students gathered for our Semester 1 Academic Dinner to recognise the dedication, progress and achievement of students studying across ANU, ACU and UC.

We are incredibly proud that one in three students achieved a Distinction or High Distinction average during Semester 1.

The evening was about more than academic results. It was a celebration of the persistence, growth and commitment behind those results — and of the community that supports students along the way.

As award recipients were announced, the room responded with standing ovations, applause and genuine moments of collective pride. It was a wonderful reflection of the academic culture we are continuing to build at Johns: one where ambition is encouraged, achievement is celebrated and students are proud to see their peers succeed.

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE

Our High Distinction Award recognises students who achieved a WAM of 80 or above across a full-time load of four or more courses in Semester 1.

The Biggest Nerd Award - celebrating enthusiastic participation in College academic events, particularly Nerd Nights was awarded to Matthew Kernohan.

The HAM Award, recognising strong academic performance, leadership and influence within the academic culture of College, and embodiment of College values, was awarded to Imogen Holliday.
