Illustra: 50 Women, 50 Years

Help us shine a light on the women of John XXIII College

In 2026, John XXIII College marks a major milestone: 50 years since women were first admitted to the College. To celebrate this historic anniversary, we’re launching Illustra: 50 Women, 50 Years, a photographic exhibition that will honour 50 women who had John XXIII as part of their journey and have gone on to shape the world around them.

Illustra, from the Latin to illuminate or make known, will feature portraits and reflections of women whose stories deserve to be seen and shared. These are women who have led change, inspired others, built communities, overcome adversity or made a meaningful impact in their chosen fields.

The exhibition will be unveiled during our 50th anniversary celebrations and permanently displayed in the College foyer as a lasting tribute to the legacy and future of women at John XXIII.

We’re calling on our alumni and broader College community to nominate women who represent the richness, diversity and spirit of John XXIII College. From trailblazers to quiet achievers, local legends to global changemakers, if their story deserves the spotlight, we want to hear about them.

Who should you nominate?

Women who:

• Have made a difference in their field, community or cause
• Show leadership, resilience, creativity or compassion
• Inspire others through their example
• Reflect the values and evolution of the College over time

Submit your nomination by 31 July 2025 via our online form.
Include the nominee’s name, years at College (if known), a brief outline of their achievements, and why you believe their story should be included.
